Quantum Computing

Since 2018 three workstations (Desktop PCs) at the Computer Laboratory Office provide network access (via Remote Desktop Protocol - RDP) to the cosynetsrv.math.auth.gr server of the Inter-Faculty Postgraduate Programm on "Complex Systems and Networks", in order to cover specialized and computing resource demanding educational and research programming projects and applications on a postgraduate studies and research level. Such access is granted following the aproval of a relevant justified application by a member of the university. Members of the Inter-Faculty Postgraduate Programm on "Complex Systems and Networks" and the Faculty of Mathematics are served on a priority basis.

This server aims to cover adequately specific academic needs for quantum computing simulations and other programming projects on Complex Systems and Networks based on the following computing resources :

Hardware:

  • CPU 7th generation Intel i9 @ 3,3 GHz, with 10 Cores and 20 Logical Processors,
  • 128GB DDR4 RAM,
  • GPU with 3.584 GP102-350 CUDA Cores @~1,6GHz and 11GB GDDR5X RAM ,
  • Gigabit Ethernet Internet connection,
  • Local storage space of 10ΤΒ (SSD/SATA3 RAID0),
  • Network access via a 2nd Gigabit Ethernet to additional storage space of 28ΤΒ (iSCSI/SMB),

System Software:

  • MS Windows 10 Enterprise 64-bit
  • Microsoft Linux 4.4.0-17134 Linux subsystem (Ubuntu 18.04 LTS with Xming 6.9.0.31)
